The Anglican Church of Congo (PACC) is a member of the Anglican Communion, and aims at bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind, providing education in various fields of life and carrying out social work and other activities related to the development and well-being of the population as a whole.
It was established in 1896 by Apollo KIVEBULAYA , a missionary sent by the Church of Uganda. Until 1980, the Anglican Church of Congo was part of the Province of Uganda. PEAC is headed by The Most Rev. Henry Isingoma Kawha, who is also the Bishop of the Diocese of Kinshasa. The PACC headquarters is based in Kinshasa, 11 STREET BASALAKALA, IMMO District-Congo, in the Municipality of KALAMU-Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The PACC Provincial Secretary is Venerable Anthonio KIBWELA and the Dean of the Province is The Rt. Rev. Zechari Masimango Katanda and doubles up as the Bishop of the Diocese of Kindu.
Currently, the PACC has nine dioceses; Aru, Boga, North Kivu, Bukavu, Kisangani and Kindu located in Eastern Congo, Diocese of Katanga located in South East Congo, Diocese of Kasai located in Central Congo and the Diocese of Kinshasa located in Western Congo.
How PACC runs its Mandate
The PACC runs its mission through four key Provincial Departments which include:
• Evangelism & Mission with runs Christian Education and Youth Program, Advocacy and Peace & Justice programs and is coordinated by Rev. Desire Mukanirwa
• Social Development which runs Community Health Programs, Community Capacity building, Environmental Programs and Project monitoring among others. The department is coordinated by Mr. Fidele Mushamuka Hamisi and Dr. Raymond GBOMBO working as his deputy
• Mothers’ Union which runs programs that develop capacity of women in the entire Province. The department is coordinated by Mrs. Mugisa Isingoma as President and Miss. Josephine Masuka as Provincial Mothers Union Secretary
• Finance which mainly deals with controls and audit, and is headed by Mr. Alain BATONDELE
Provincial Secretary is responsible for communication within the Province and the Church has a Liaison Office in Kampala, which is headed by Mr. Fredric NGADJOLE.
