Important Events

Historical dates

• 1887 : The Church of England sent the first missionaries in Uganda to establish the Church of Uganda

• 1896 : The Church of Uganda sends Apollo KIVEBULAYA to establish the Anglican Church of Congo

• Until 1980 : The Anglican Church of Congo was part of the Province of Uganda (Church of Uganda) .

• 1961: Inauguration of the autonomous ecclesiastical Province of Uganda, Burundi , Rwanda and Zaire with Bishop Brown as the first Archbishop

• 1965: Election of the first African Archbishop of the Province by Province in the person of His Grace Bishop Eric Sabiti

• 1969 : Ordination of Priests first Africans to the Church of Boga ( late Bishop Tibafa Mugera Ven Rwahuire Mugarwa and Chan Apando Yosiya . . )

• From 1980 - 1992 : The Church of Congo was part of the Francophone Province of Burundi , Rwanda and Zaire ( Congo). With his Bishop Bezaleri Ndahura was the first Archbishop

• 30 . 05. 1992: Creation of the Province of the Anglican Church of Congo with five dioceses ( Boga , Bukavu , Kisangani , Katanga and North Kivu)

• From 1992 to 2012: The PEAC :
Known three Archbishops including: His Grace Bishop Patrice Njojo Byankya ( 1992-2003 ) , His Grace Bishop Dr. Dirokpa Balufuga Faithful ( 2003-2009 ) and His Grace Bishop ISINGO MA K. Henri (2009 to date).

• 1996 : The Centenary of the Anglican Church of Congo

• 1997 : inauguration of the Diocese of Kindu , 6th Anglican Diocese of the Congo ( the division of the Diocese of Bukavu ) . Holder : Bishop Masimango Katanda

• 1997 : Consecration of Bishop MAVATIKWA KANY as Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Kisangani with residence in Kinshasa.

• 1997 : Enthronement of Bishop Isingoma K. Henry as the second Bishop of the Diocese of Katanga replacing Bishop Mbona Kolini .

• 1997 : Renewal by election of His Grace Patrice NJOJO BYANKYA as Archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church of Congo for a second term of five years.

• 1999: The death of Bishop MAVATIKWA KANY , Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Kisangani to Kinshasa.

• 2000 : The death of Bishop TIBAFA Mugera Sylvestre, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Kisangani and enthronement of Bishop Funga BOTOLO ME L. as the second Bishop.

• 2002 : Election of Bishop DIROKPA BALUFUGA Faithful, Bishop of Bukavu, as the second Archbishop of the PEAC

• 2003: Enthronement of Archbishop Dr DIROKPA BALUFUGA Faithful second Archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church of Congo, February 16, 2003 in St Peter's Cathedral Bukavu.

• 2003: The consecration of Bishop Jean MOLANGA and the inauguration of the Diocese of Kinshasa 7th Anglican Diocese of the Congo ( the division of the Diocese of Kisangani )

• 2005 : Inauguration of the Diocese of Aru , 8th Anglican Diocese of the Congo ( the division of the Diocese of Boga ) . Holder : Bishop Dr. Georges TITLE ANDE.

• 2006: Consecration and Enthronement of Bishop Cornelius KASIMA MUNO as the third Bishop of Katanga and inauguration of the Cathedral of Lubumbashi.

• 2006: Consecration and Enthronement of Bishop BAHATI BUSANE Sylvestre , 3rd Bishop of Bukavu.

• 2006: Consecration of Bishop Enoch KAYEEYE as Assistant Bishop Diocese of North Kivu.

• 2009 : Election and Enthronement of Archbishop Henri Isingoma KAHWA third Archbishop of the PEAC.

• 2010: Consecration and Enthronement of Bishop William BAHEMUKA as the third Bishop of the Diocese of Boga

• 2010: Consecration and Enthronement of Bishop ISE- SOMO Adolphe as the second Bishop of the Diocese of North Kivu and retired Bishop KAYEEYE.

• 2010: Consecration of Bishop Marcel Kapinga as first Bishop of the Diocese of Mbuji -Mayi Kasai for both

• January 31, 2011 Enthronement of Bishop Marcel Kapinga and inauguration of the Diocese of Mbuji -Mayi Kasai as for 9th diocese.

• 26 November 2012 : Consecration of Bishop Elisha TENDWA as missionary bishop of the Diocese of Katanga Assistant based in Kalemie.
